The Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater invites its audience to the lyric-epic opera “Prince Igor” on February 23. The Song of Igor's Campaign is the basis for the storyline.
In “Prince Igor” everything is surprising. First, of course, the brilliant music of Alexander Borodin. Secondly, the fact that the opera was composed by a man whose professional occupation was not music, but chemistry. It took 18 years to write one of the best Russian operas, but it was never completed. The opera was completed by composer’s friends A. Glazunov, Rimsky-Korsakov. The composer’s writing is permeated with the patriotic idea of the Russian people. The main characters of the work personify the essence of the Russian soul, its noble beginning, masculinity, loyalty and morality. It’s not in vain that this opera is so popular in Russia: native land and its defenders are praised, disasters and difficulties are perceived with pain.
