Solemn reception on behalf of the President of Tatarstan

Federal Sabantuy is celebrated on May 12-13 in the Astrakhan region. Annually tens of thousands of guests from all over the country gather for this festival, which has long been positioned at the federal level as one of the main Russian events aimed at harmonizing interethnic relations in our country.

This year the event is held in Astrakhan on the proposal of the Astrakhan region Governor Alexander Zhilkin. The festival is timed to the 300th anniversary of the Astrakhan province.

Already yesterday about 500 Tatar artists of different ages arrived in Astrakhan to participate in the federal Sabantuy. The delegation of cultural and art figures is headed by Airat Sibagatullin, the Republic of Tatarstan Culture Minister. And today a big concert with the participation of the best professional ensembles and artists from Kazan and a solemn reception on behalf of Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov have taken place in the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The head of the Astrakhan region, Alexander Zhilkin, has delivered a congratulatory speech. In addition, the governor has stressed that more than 150 nationalities live in the region and that it is very important to be able to understand each other, respect each other, and help each other.

The State Song and Dance Ensemble of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Astrakhan State Song and Dance Ensemble, the folk instruments orchestra "Kazan Nury", Venera Protasova, the rising opera star of the Tatar Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after M. Jalil, have participated in the concert. In total, the concert program has included more than 20 numbers.

There is also an exhibition of folk crafts in the foyer of the theatre.
