Concert that you will never forget

   Today the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater presented a unique concert, both in content and composition. The long-awaited program “The Greatness of Illusions. Strauss. Rachmaninov” took place at the full house.

   The Home Symphony (SINFONIA DOMESTICA) by Richard Strauss was performed by the musicians that came from from Kalmykia, Stavropol, St. Petersburg and also by the orchestra members of the Astrakhan Philharmonic Society. The performers had to maintain the high composer's bar.

   The performance of Sofia Gulyak - a pianist with a worldwide reputation was a real gift for the Astrakhan public. Taking into consideration that Sophia rarely performs in Russia, and the concert schedule is very tight, this is a great success to hear and to see this talented musician for classical music lovers. The 3rd piano concert by Sergei Rachmaninov was performed under the direction of the chief conductor Valery Voronin and the symphony orchestra with Sofia as a virtuoso soloist.

   It was a special pleasure to observe the work of the artistic director and chief conductor Valery Voronin. His rich experience allowed him to lead the band that’s more than 100 people with enthusiasm and confidence. The musicians themselves showed incredible possibilities, dynamic and all the power of orchestral sound. The joint work of the maestro and the musicians of the orchestra conveyed the mood and variety of shades of the most complex works.

Concert “The greatness of illusions. Staus. Rachmaninov ” became a significant cultural event for our city.
