There are “symbolic” works in the history of musical art which are ashamed not to know and not to for an educated person. Their musical content features often imply a special cast of performers provided for by the author's intention.

On February 1 Richard Strauss’s Home Symphony will be performed for the first time in Astrakhan. A unique symphony concert will be held at the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater. One of the brightest pianists of our time, Sofia Gulyak, will take part in it. Together with the symphony orchestra of the theater, led by chief conductor Valery Voronin, she will perform

Symphonia domestica (“Home Symphony”) by Richard Strauss and the 3rd piano concert by Sergei Rachmaninov.

The leaders of the Opera and Ballet Theater do not simplify the tasks and take on certain financial risks in order to present the compositions in accordance with the author's score. Musicians from other cities of Russia are also invited for this.

Therefore, to perform the “Home Symphony” by Richard Strauss orchestra players from Elista and contrabassists from St. Petersburg are coming to Astrakhan, musicians from the chamber orchestra of the Astrakhan Philharmonic Society join the orchestra (at least 62 strings- is the author’s wish), a professor from Moscow will be the soloist on Goboe d, amore in a symphony (it seems that this instrument was last heard in Astrakhan during the pre-reformation tour of the Madrigal Ensemble).

And in the nearest future the performance of “Requiem” by G.Verdi, where the choir of Kalmykia joins the theater choir.
