Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater presents series of chamber music concerts “Gardens of Harmony”

February 16, Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater opens a series of concerts to acquaint listeners with the genre richness of chamber music. The first one is dedicated to the works of I. Bach and V. Mozart.

A musical piece “Coffee Cantata” that is dedicated to coffee will be performed at the concert. Yes! Yes! Johann Sebastian Bach is not only a brilliant musical philosopher. There are other works by Bach that reveal completely different side of him.

At the beginning of the XVIII century coffee only began to gain popularity among the middle class. Many Germans were suspicious of a new drink: they preferred traditional beer to it and generally didn’t take anything that was not German. The sale of coffee was subjected to high taxes in some places and it was completely prohibited in the others. Someone Zimmerman, the owner of a coffee house in Leipzig was interested in advertising both drinks and restaurants. Bach wrote a cantata for Zimmermannsche Kaffeehaus, which was the first musical piece in history that was dedicated to coffee. Nowadays, there have already been several theatrical versions of the performance of the Coffee Cantata.

A real masterpiece will sound in the second part of the program: Mozart - a concert for flute, harp and orchestra in C major. The creation of this work is also quite unexpected. In 1778, in Paris, Mozart wrote a work for the “high-born dilettantes” - the Duke de Guine and his daughter. The composer was skeptical about flute, and the harp seemed to him as a very limited in its capabilities instrument. Nevertheless, the composer brilliantly coped with his task. He created exquisite French music: a small orchestra, a charming play of both high-society instruments – together and with the orchestra; in sounds - sensual beginning with the depth of sensations.

Anna Kadenkova, Yana Paklyanova, Ivan Mikhailov, Matvey Matveyev, Dmitry Sharmanov, Egor Zhuravsky will take part in the concert program.

Musicians of the symphony orchestra:

flute - Vera Zaplesvichko

harp - Kira Lagozinskaya

Music Director - Evgeny Kirillov

Director - Ekaterina Sablina
