This year marks exactly ten years of one of the most favorite and popular music festivals of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater! The annual creative project “Music on the Grass” has become a real theatrical brand, a good tradition that unites thousands of Astrakhan residents with her majesty - music in the open area of their favorite theater in the May days.
This year, the beginning of the festival is dedicated to the day of the opening of the Astrakhan Musical Theatre, the predecessor of the Opera and Ballet Theater. It was on May 4, 1996; so the general theme of the festival is our theater: yesterday, today, and tomorrow.
It was on this day 28 years ago that the Astrakhan Musical Theater opened its stage with a concert called “This Dizzying Day.”
On the first day of the festival, on May 4, the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater will present to the audience a retrospective of its creative way from the day it was founded and up to the present day.
There will be musical numbers consisting of the works performed previously on the “old stage”, as well as pieces from the modern repertoire. This will allow the audience to learn about the main stages of the formation and the creative development of the theatrical musical art in the region.
This evening, works of various genres will be performed: opera, operetta, musical comedy. The concert program will feature Kira Kirilina, Nadezhda Meyer, Ruzalina Nikiforova, Sergei Mankovsky, Konstantin Sklyarov, Andrey Puzhalin, and Andrey Shitikov, Konstantin Nikiforov.
Music from operettas by Kálmán, Lehár, and Strauss, and fragments from works by Mozart, Verdi, Rossini, Puccini, Bizet, Glinka and Tchaikovsky will take the guests of the festival to the world of tenderness, romance and deep feelings.
In the Year of the Family, the festival organizers have decided to change its traditional format. Evenings with live music will be a continuation of a large, interesting edutainment day program, which, taking into account the interests of different age groups, will offer a choice of dozens of unusual events: yoga classes, master classes in crafts, city plain-airs, broadcasts of theatrical performances on a big screen, and interactive programs for children. The guests of the festival are welcome in the Theater Park from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm.
There will be six creative meetings with Astrakhan residents and guests of the city as part of the “Music on the Grass” festival: May 4, 9, 12, 18, 19 and 31.
