Within the framework of the National Project “Culture”, the federal project “Creative People” and with the support of the Governor of the Astrakhan region Igor Babushkin, the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater together with the Directorate for the implementation of cultural and mass programs will once again revive the tradition of New Year and Christmas celebrations lost in its time and offer an innovative form of street theatrical action, allowing the widest range of spectators to become its participants.
On December 21 and 22, on the Cathedral Square of the Astrakhan Kremlin, the colorful performance “Wonderful Folio” will immerse the audience in the wonderful world of Russian classical music. We invite you to join us on a magical journey through the events of fabulous Russian operas, history and folk traditions, as well as to get acquainted with the outstanding works of the “golden age” of Russian culture.
Favorite and recognizable music performed by the symphonic orchestra of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater under the baton of Valery Voronin, together with the main art object - a wonderful folio, scenery and lighting design, will transport the audience into the world of Russian classics.
Ice show, original dance and stage numbers will complement the action centered on the image of the book - the key to any transformation. This fascinating adventure will take the main characters and the audience to the world of exotic countries, amazing castles, ice palaces and sea caves hiding secrets in their depths.
The large-scale performance will be organically integrated into the performances of artists of original genre - acrobatic etudes, fire show, jugglers, original dance - all these elements of the festivities will expand the scope of the classical concert, turning the performance into a bright action and creating a special mood of New Year's days.
There will also be organized festivities, fair, rides and other interactive entertainment for children and adults. The place of festive festivities will be supplemented with ice stage areas, Father Frost’s workshop, a fair and walking areas. All this will give the residents of Astrakhan the atmosphere of a large-scale holiday, a place of family leisure, memorable winter festivities, which are becoming a new tradition of Astrakhan.
