All-Russian festival of contemporary music "Astrakhan Bridges"
Concert "Alfred Schnittke. Legacy"
The work of Alfred Garrievich Schnittke not only had a huge influence on subsequent generations of composers, but also became a kind of door to a “new musical dimension”, where a modern composer in his work does not “run” from the past in search of “exclusivity”, but reconsiders the legacy of his great predecessors in another way. At the same time, everyone has their own interpretation of “classics according to Schnittke” - this is how the individuality of each artist is revealed.
“…In my opinion, Schnittke did not discover polystylistics, but restored the unity that had existed in musical culture many centuries before him…” said Iosif Raiskin, a musicologist, a friend of the composer.
In honor of the 90th anniversary of the outstanding composer, as part of the Astrakhan Bridges festival, the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater, will present a concert dedicated to the maestro, which will feature a musical piece by Alfred Schnittke, as well as the works by contemporary composers from St. Petersburg — Anton Tanonov, Nikolai Mazhara and Sergei Diaghilev. This evening will be entirely dedicated to the piano works of the authors.
The program features:
A. Schnittke. Concerto for Piano and String Orchestra in one part;
A. Tanonov. Concerto for Piano and Symphonic Orchestra in three parts;
N. Mazhara. Concerto No. 4 for Piano and Symphonic Orchestra in three parts;
S. Diaghilev. Concerto No. 1 for Piano and Symphonic Orchestra in three parts - "The King of Time" (dedicated to A. Schnittke). World premiere.
