Tsvetana Omelchuk performed at the Mariinsky theatre

The Opera Cinderella by Jules Massenet in a concert performance in the original language (with Russian subtitles) was presented by the soloists of the Mariinsky Academy of Young Opera singers at the Mariinsky theatre. In the Academy talented singers have a unique opportunity not only to study intensive training, but also perform on the well-known Mariinsky stage. Director of the Academy - Larisa Gergieva is a widely famous figure of musical art, the vocal leader and the teacher with a world name. Now the soloist of the Astrakhan state theatre of Opera and Ballet Tsvetana Omelchuk (mezzo-soprano) trains in the Academy and by the invitation of Larisa Gergieva took part in Cinderella, having performed Dorathea's part.

For the first time the opera was performed in 1899 in Parisian Opéra-Comique, in times when Massenet's music was at the peak of the popularity. Together with Werther and Manon, Cinderella became one of the most successful operas of the composer.
