On March 6, the meeting of the board of the Astrakhan region Culture and Tourism Ministry was held at the exhibition center "Zeyhgauz", where the results of the year 2016 - the Year of Russian Cinema, as well as the prospects for the culture and tourism industry development were examined. Governor of the Astrakhan region Alexander Zhilkin, Deputy Chairman of the Astrakhan region Government - Culture and Tourism Minister Galina Zoteeva, heads of the city and the region cultural institutions, cultural figures, business representatives and others participated in the work of the board.
The work of the board began with a video presentation, which included the most vivid cultural events in the region, among which there were: the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theatre premiere of the opera "The Tale of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya" in the Kremlin , the first international festival "Delta Jazz", the tour of Moscow Theater "New Opera", the appearance of a new educational project for children "We Read the Opera", and the Astrakhan theatre tour activities abroad.
These and many other cultural events in the region allowed to increase the volume of tourist flow. In 2016, about 2.5 million tourists and excursionists visited our city. For 2016, Astrakhan was among the top three leaders in the rating of the most popular tourist cities in Russia after St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl.
The main topics became the results of the Year of Russian Cinema and the prospects of the 300th Astrakhan province anniversary celebration, symbolic for citizens. Speaking to all those present - cultural figures of the region, representatives of state authorities and the public - the Governor outlined a special task for culture today: to raise the branch to a higher level.
Galina Zoteeva told about the development of the branch in 2016.
