The best open-air theatre

Professional Prize "Facets of the Mass Theatre" is awarded for achievements in the field of mass forms of theatrical art: theatrical holidays, performances, show programs and performances in the open air. The National Prize "Facets of the Mass Theatre" was established in 2005 by the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation and the Moscow City Public Relations Committee on the initiative of the STD of the Russian Federation Council  on mass forms of theatrical art. In each nomination only one winner is determined with the awarding of the "Laureate of the Prize"  title . The main purpose of the Prize is to support the masters of mass forms of theatrical art, to discover new talents in order to strengthen and further develop this popular art form.

In the evening of March 28, the eleventh solemn ceremony of awarding the National Professional Prize "Facets of the Mass Theatre" for 2016 will be held  in the Assembly Hall of the Moscow House of Public Organizations.

The regions of Russia, from Kamchatka to Kaliningrad, from Ukhta to Derbent, submitted to the jury of the contest about a hundred different projects for 2016.

Famous theatre and cinema actors will take part in the ceremony: People's Artists of Russia Yevgeny Gerasimov and Yevgeny Steblov; Composer, People's Artist of Russia Maxim Dunaevsky; Chairman of the Peoples of Russia Assembly Council Svetlana Smirnova, and other representatives of culture and arts, public and state figures.

Last year, an outdoor performance "The Legend of the Invisible City of Kitezh and the Maiden Fevroniya" was submitted on the competition for the  "Facets of the Mass Theatre" prize.  The result was known by the end of the 21st theatrical season. This year the Astrakhan State Ballet has become the winner of the Prize in the category "the Best Open-Air Theatre".

It should be noted that the Prize "Facets of the Mass Theatre" is the second one for the Astrakhan Theatre. Earlier, the performance “Boris Godunov” in the Kremlin has been marked by jury in the nomination "the Best Open-Air Theatre".
