His majesty dance, and in this case ballet, is a complex theatrical phenomenon. Spectators will be affected not only with the dance story, but also with the sound and color in the new production. According to the art director of the ballet Konstantin Uralsky, the complexity of scenography and costumes is that they follow the technique of the romantic genre.

Nikolai Sharonov’s scenographic solution of the ballet is inspired by romanticism. It will enchant the viewers. Conventionality and reality  coexist in the scenography.

The basis for the ballet was the libretto by Theophile Gautier and Henri de Saint-Georges, after the legend retold by Heinrich Heine.

In 1841 the ballet was a huge success. And a couple of years later "Giselle" entered  the main repertoire of many theatres of the world, including Russia.

In 1884 Marius Petipa staged the ballet at the Mariinsky Theatre. This version is still considered the main choreographic part of the ballet "Giselle". More than a century and a half, this ballet has been staged in all the leading theatres of the world, and Giselle's party has been included in the repertoire of every significant ballerina. Fragile, defenseless and, at the same time, endowed with the great power of love, the "ever-young" image does not leave human hearts indifferent.
