His mother, who herself was a good pianist, instilled love for music to a future genius. While still expectant, she played six hours a day, and when the long-awaited child was born, she often played Chopin and Beethoven for her son. From an early age, Sergei was carried away by music and already in five years he composed his first work - a small play "Indian galop" for piano. In 1902 the works by Prokofiev were heard by the composer S. Taneyev. He was so impressed with the abilities of the boy that he himself asked R. Gliere to give Sergei lessons on the theory of composition. In 1903 Prokofiev entered the St. Petersburg Conservatory. Among the teachers of Sergei Sergeevich were such famous musicians as N. Rimsky-Korsakov, J. Vitola, A. Lyadov, A. Yesipova. In the conservatory he got the nickname Motor - for his energy and cheerful disposition: "I do not like to be at rest, I like to be on the move." This ability, he did not lose later. In 1909 Prokofiev graduated from the conservatory as a composer, in 1914 - as a pianist, in 1917 - as an organist. During this period, Sergei Sergeevich creates operas "Maddalena", "The Gambler". After the end of the Conservatory, since 1918 Sergei Sergeyevich toured a lot, he visited Japan, the United States, London, Paris. In 1927 Prokofiev created the opera "The Fiery Angel" In 1932 he recorded his third concert in London. In the following years Prokofiev worked a lot in different genres. He created one of his masterpieces - the ballet "Romeo and Juliet" (1936). It's amazing that the Bolshoi Theatre, which ordered the ballet, initially rejected it, finding his music unsuitable for staging and for the theatre. As a result, the world premiere took place in 1938 in Brno, and only a year and a half later the ballet was staged in the Bolshoi, where it is still in the repertoire. "Romeo and Juliet" by Prokofiev is one of the most popular ballets of the twentieth century. The world art recognized masterpiece is embodied through music and amazing choreography. The production is so impressive that one has to watch it at least once in life. The composer managed to miraculously "transfer" Shakespeare's complex plot into the ballet score.
The premiere of the famous ballet on the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theatre stage was held in October 2016.
This ballet is a story about the eternal things: about love, traditions, struggle and death. Artistic director of the ballet, Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Uralsky created his version of "Romeo and Juliet". Positive moments, related to the beauty of the surrounding world, the people's life and, of course, the young heroes, Romeo and Juliet, their kind spiritual world and their love, are on the foreground in the choreographic decision. The ballet of Konstantin Uralsky is full of both semantic and choreographic ideas. The whole choreographic text is based on coexistence of classical dance and other plastic directions. The world, created by the famous choreographer in the Italian manner, is colorful, juicy and rich in details.
