Astrakhan on April 9 and 11 will host the XVI International Festival of Vocal Art named after Valeria Barsova and Maria Maksakova
In Astrakhan despite the circumstances associated with the pandemic will be held the XVI International Festival of Vocal Art named after Valeria Barsova and Maria Maksakova. The creativity of these two wonderful prima donnas of the opera stage has always been loved and revered in Astrakhan. In our city in their small homeland the primas of the "bygone era" have a special status: books and articles are written about them, documentaries are shot. The festival named after Valeria Barsova and Maria Maksakova is a tribute to the memory of famous compatriots. Eminent soloists from Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia have taken part in the musical event in different years.
The grand opening of the XVI International Festival of Vocal Art named after Valeria Barsova and Maria Maksakova will take place on April 9 on the stage of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater. On this day famous opera singers will present their art to the Astrakhan audience. Among them: soloists of the Mariinsky Theater Natalya Evstafieva and Alexander Gerasimov, soloist of the Kazakh State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet Tair Tazhi. The concert will be conducted by the chief conductor of the Kazakh National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after S. Abay Kanat Omarov. The choir and the symphony orchestra of the Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theater will perform opera fragments together with the invited soloists. Astrakhan opera soloists will also take part in the festival: laureates of international competitions Anna Kadenkova, Vera Pozolotina, Sergey Taranenko and others.
On April 11 the festival will continue with the premiere of the opera "Le nozzi di Figaro" by W. Mozart with the participation of soloists of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater. The production of the play "Le nozzi di Figaro" was carried out within the framework of the current project "Art-Pro-Movement" by graduates of the famous GITIS and the Astrakhan troupe. The author of the project is Valery Voronin, artistic director and chief conductor of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater. The stage director of the performance is Alexei Smirnov, the production designer is Elena Bodrova, the costume designer is Sofya Zosina, the choreographer is Ksenia Popova, the choirmaster is the Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation - Galina Duncheva, the lighting designer is Timofey Ermolin. The performance will be directed by the artistic director and chief conductor Valery Voronin.
