The splendor of baroque music on a magical May night

   Unusually late in the evening, the central foyer of the theater was buried in the sounds of magnificent music and the glitter of crystal. Ladies in evening dresses, gallant gentlemen and the magical atmosphere of a May night. The festive concert "Al contrario", having gathered true fans of the theater, was able to surprise them with its originality and completely new form. The concert program began right in the foyer. On the red carpet, the chamber ensemble performed the cantata Gloria by Antonio Vivaldi. The balconies of the upper floors house the choir and opera soloists.

   The second part continued in the Big Hall, but even here a surprise awaited the audience. The auditorium has changed - the slender rows of armchairs have disappeared, and in the center of the stalls the chamber composition of the orchestra is located. The magic of the May night and the beauty of baroque music were emphasized by ancient dances. The audience seemed to have moved in time: historical costumes, wigs, candelabra. The famous choreographer, former soloist of the Bolshoi Theater Natalia Kaidanovskaya worked on the production of ancient dances. Subtly and stylistically flawlessly, the ballet dancers demonstrated the dances of the Renaissance.

   The vocal part of the concert was presented by the magnificent soloists of the theater Yana Pavlova, Tatyana Hcupina, Vera Pozolotina, Evgenia Startseva, Anna Kadenkova, Tatyana Kachanova, the theater soloist Alexander Malyshko and the guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theater and Helikon Opera, countertenor Rustam Yavaev.

   The chamber ensemble of the symphony orchestra, the choir and the opera soloists demonstrated their skills by performing works by European composers - F. Handel, H. Purcell, A. Vivaldi, J. Rameau. The audience enthusiastically accepted each performance, after which the applause did not subside for a long time!

Conductors of the concert are Evgeny Kirillov and Petr Belyakin. Choirmaster - Honored Art Worker of the Russian Federation Galina Duncheva. The concert program was directed by Ekaterina Sablina.
