Opera "Eugene Onegin" at the international festival

The festival of vocal art named after Valery Barsova and Maria Maksakova is one of the brightest events of the musical life of our region. The festival is held once in two years for more than 25 years. The Astrakhan have waited for the14th International Festival for 3 years and this year the event will be dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the Astrakhan province.

The grand opening will be held on April 8 in the  Astrakhan State Opera and Ballet Theatre. Within five days, opera stars will present their art to Astrakhan theatre-goes. The program of the festival includes academic concerts and jazz vocal music, performances of chamber choir and orchestra of Russian folk instruments, gala performances. In addition, as a part of the international festival named after  V. Barsova and M. Maksakova, the opera "Eugene Onegin"  will be performed. The invited soloists will perform the leading parties in it. Pyotr Migunov (Prince Gremin) and Alexander Timchenko (Lensky) are going to come  from St. Petersburg, the soloist of the Astrakhan Opera and Ballet Theater, the International Contest laureate Elena Razgulyaeva will be on the stage as Tatyana, and she will be supplemented by the soloist of the Chelyabinsk Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, Laureate of International Competitions Anastasia Lepeshinskaya (Olga's part).

Lensky's party is really a landmark for Alexander Timchenko. In 2002, he made his debut on the stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in this part. To date, there are  more than 25 parties  in his repertoire.

Petr Migunov is currently touring Europe with the Bolshoi Theatre troupe, his schedule has recently been very tense: touring, premieres, press conferences, interviews. The popular bass will not only perform Gremin's party, but he also will take part in the final gala concert.

As for the production of the opera "Eugene Onegin", it was known to Astrakhans since April 2014. The premiere of this performance immediately became an event in the cultural life of Astrakhan. Less than a year, more than 7,000 people saw the performance. But not only our spectators appreciated the work of the Astrakhan stage directors, the experts of the prestigious theatre festival “the Golden Mask” paid attention to the production. The opera "Eugene Onegin" appeared on the posters of the main National Competition in four categories. The director of the opera Konstantin Balakin refused the idea of ​​"To amuse the elite" by “Eugene Onegin". This classical version retained Tchaikovsky's author's idea - "lyrical scenes", the mystery of feelings, a beautiful Russian landscape and nothing more.
